| * b43: fix a lower bounds testDan Carpenter2021-11-26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [ Upstream commit 9b793db5fca44d01f72d3564a168171acf7c4076 ] The problem is that "channel" is an unsigned int, when it's less 5 the value of "channel - 5" is not a negative number as one would expect but is very high positive value instead. This means that "start" becomes a very high positive value. The result of that is that we never enter the "for (i = start; i <= end; i++) {" loop. Instead of storing the result from b43legacy_radio_aci_detect() it just uses zero. | * b43: Fix connection problem with WPA3Larry Finger2020-06-20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 75d057bda1fbca6ade21378aa45db712e5f7d962 upstream. Since the driver was first introduced into the kernel, it has only handled the ciphers associated with WEP, WPA, and WPA2. It fails with WPA3 even though mac80211 can handle those additional ciphers in software, b43 did not report that it could handle them. By setting MFP_CAPABLE using ieee80211_set_hw(), the problem is fixed. With this change, b43 will handle the ciphers it knows in hardware, and let mac80211 handle the others in software. It is not necessary to use the module parameter NOHWCRYPT to turn hardware encryption off. Although this change essentially eliminates that module parameter, I am choosing to keep it for cases where the hardware is broken, and software encryption is required for all ciphers. * | BACKPORT: cfg80211: remove enum ieee80211_bandJohannes Berg2020-02-02
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | This enum is already perfectly aliased to enum nl80211_band, and the only reason for it is that we get IEEE80211_NUM_BANDS out of it. There's no really good reason to not declare the number of bands in nl80211 though, so do that and remove the cfg80211 one. * b43: shut up clang -Wuninitialized variable warningArnd Bergmann2019-06-11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [ Upstream commit d825db346270dbceef83b7b750dbc29f1d7dcc0e ] Clang warns about what is clearly a case of passing an uninitalized variable into a static function: drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/b43/phy_lp.c:1852:23: error: variable 'gains' is uninitialized when used here [-Werror,-Wuninitialized] lpphy_papd_cal(dev, gains, 0, 1, 30); ^~~~~ drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/b43/phy_lp.c:1838:2: note: variable 'gains' is declared here struct lpphy_tx_gains gains, oldgains; ^ 1 error generated. However, this function is empty, and its arguments are never evaluated, so gcc in contrast does not warn here. Both compilers behave in a reasonable way as far as I can tell, so we should change the code to avoid the warning everywhere. We could just eliminate the lpphy_papd_cal() function entirely, given that it has had the TODO comment in it for 10 years now and is rather unlikely to ever get done. I'm doing a simpler change here, and just pass the 'oldgains' variable in that has been initialized, based on the guess that this is what was originally meant. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 8ea3819c0bbef57a51d8abe579e211033e861677 upstream. The cordic routine for calculating sines and cosines that was added in commit 6f98e62a9f1b ("b43: update cordic code to match current specs") contains an error whereby a quantity declared u32 can in fact go negative. This problem was detected by Priit Laes who is switching b43 to use the routine in the library functions of the kernel. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Its a bit odd that debugfs_create_bool() takes 'u32 *' as an argument, when all it needs is a boolean pointer. It would be better to update this API to make it accept 'bool *' instead, as that will make it more consistent and often more convenient. Over that bool takes just a byte. That required updates to all user sites as well, in the same commit updating the API. regmap core was also using debugfs_{read|write}_file_bool(), directly and variable types were updated for that to be bool as well. * | ssb: pick PCMCIA host code support from b43 driverRafał Miłecki2015-10-28
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ssb bus can be found on various "host" devices like PCI/PCMCIA/SDIO. Every ssb bus contains cores AKA devices. The main idea is to have ssb driver scan/initialize bus and register ready-to-use cores. This way ssb drivers can operate on a single core mostly ignoring underlaying details. For some reason PCMCIA support was split between ssb and b43. We got PCMCIA host device probing in b43, then bus scanning in ssb and then wireless core probing back in b43. The truth is it's very unlikely we will ever see PCMCIA ssb device with no 802.11 core but I still don't see any advantage of the current architecture. With proposed change we get the same functionality with a simpler architecture, less Kconfig symbols, one killed EXPORT and hopefully cleaner b43. Since b43 supports both: ssb & bcma I prefer to keep ssb specific code in ssb driver. This mostly moves code from b43's pcmcia.c to bridge_pcmcia_80211.c. We already use similar solution with b43_pci_bridge.c. I didn't use "b43" in name of this new file as in theory any driver can operate on wireless core. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | It seems Broadcom released two devices with conflicting device id. There are for sure 14e4:4321 PCI devices with BCM4321 (N-PHY) chipset, they can be found in routers, e.g. Netgear WNR834Bv2. However, according to Broadcom public sources 0x4321 is also used for 5 GHz BCM4306 (G-PHY). It's unsure if they meant PCI device id, or "virtual" id (from SPROM). To distinguish these devices lets check PHY type (G vs. N). Signed-off-by: Rafał Miłecki <zajec5@gmail.com> Cc: <stable@vger.kernel.org> # 3.16+ Signed-off-by: Kalle Valo <kvalo@codeaurora.org>
* | mac80211: convert HW flags to unsigned long bitmapJohannes Berg2015-06-10
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As we're running out of hardware capability flags pretty quickly, convert them to use the regular test_bit() style unsigned long bitmaps. This introduces a number of helper functions/macros to set and to test the bits, along with new debugfs code. The occurrences of an explicit __clear_bit() are intentional, the drivers were never supposed to change their supported bits on the fly. We should investigate changing this to be a per-frame flag. The conflict hunks generated by GIT were very unhelpful, to say the least. It split functions in half and moved them around, when the real actual conflict only existed solely inside of one function, that being be_map_pci_bars(). So instead, to resolve this, I checked out be_main.c from the top of net-next, then I applied the be_main.c changes from 'net' since the last time I merged. And this worked beautifully. * b43: Fix locking FIXME in beacon update top halfMichael Büsch2015-01-29
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | b43 has a FIXME about locking in the mac80211 set-beacon-int callback for a long time. As it turns out there actually is a tiny race window that could result in a use-after-free bug of the 'current_beacon' memory. Nobody ever reported this, so it probably never happened. Fix this by adding a spin lock that protects the current_beacon access. We must not be in atomic context while accessing hardware (due to SDIO), so the beacon update bottom half has to clone the skb and release the lock before writing it to hardware. Let's all hope that this stops the troll who is trying to submit incorrect fixes for this issue repeatedly. And let's hope that I'm not a troll, too, who just hides even more evil code in an even more complex attempt to fix the issue.
