[ Upstream commit c6564c13dae25cd7f8e1de5127b4da4500ee5844 ]
For the possible failure of the platform_get_irq(), the returned irq
could be error number and will finally cause the failure of the
request_irq().
Consider that platform_get_irq() can now in certain cases return
-EPROBE_DEFER, and the consequences of letting request_irq()
effectively convert that into -EINVAL, even at probe time rather than
later on. So it might be better to check just now.

[ Upstream commit 370d988cc529598ebaec6487d4f84c2115dc696b ]
In the function softing_startstop() the variable error_reporting is
assigned but not used. The code that uses this variable is commented
out. Its stated that the functionality is not finally verified.
To fix the warning:
| drivers/net/can/softing/softing_fw.c:424:9: error: variable 'error_reporting' set but not used [-Werror,-Wunused-but-set-variable]
remove the comment, activate the code, but add a "0 &&" to the if
expression and rely on the optimizer rather than the preprocessor to
remove the code.

commit ced4913efb0acc844ed65cc01d091a85d83a2082 upstream.
In case device registration fails during probe, the driver state and
the embedded platform device structure needs to be freed using
platform_device_put() to properly free all resources (e.g. the device
name).

commit 89d58aebe14a365c25ba6645414afdbf4e41cea4 upstream.
No information is deliberately sent in hf->flags in host -> device
communications, but the open-source candleLight firmware echoes it
back, which can result in the GS_CAN_FLAG_OVERFLOW flag being set and
generating spurious ERRORFRAMEs.
While there also initialize the reserved member with 0.

of invalid USB data
commit 4a8737ff068724f509d583fef404d349adba80d6 upstream.
The received data contains the channel the received data is associated
with. If the channel number is bigger than the actual number of
channels assume broken or malicious USB device and shut it down.
This fixes the error found by clang:
| drivers/net/can/usb/gs_usb.c:386:6: error: variable 'dev' is used
| uninitialized whenever 'if' condition is true
| if (hf->channel >= GS_MAX_INTF)
| ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
| drivers/net/can/usb/gs_usb.c:474:10: note: uninitialized use occurs here
| hf, dev->gs_hf_size, gs_usb_receive_bulk_callback,

commit fb12797ab1fef480ad8a32a30984844444eeb00d upstream.
The CAN clock frequency is used when calculating the CAN bittiming
parameters. When wrong clock frequency is used, the device may end up
with wrong bittiming parameters, depending on user requested bittiming
parameters.
To avoid this, get the CAN clock frequency from the device. Various
existing Kvaser Leaf products use different CAN clocks.

commit 94cddf1e9227a171b27292509d59691819c458db upstream.
After calling netif_receive_skb(skb), dereferencing skb is unsafe.
Especially, the can_frame cf which aliases skb memory is dereferenced
just after the call netif_receive_skb(skb).
Reordering the lines solves the issue.

commit 3ec6ca6b1a8e64389f0212b5a1b0f6fed1909e45 upstream.
If the last channel is not available then "dev" is freed. Fortunately,
we can just use "pdev->irq" instead.
Also we should check if at least one channel was set up.

commit 949fe9b35570361bc6ee2652f89a0561b26eec98 upstream.
When remove the module peek_pci, referencing 'chan' again after
releasing 'dev' will cause UAF.
Fix this by releasing 'dev' later.

commit 3d031abc7e7249573148871180c28ecedb5e27df upstream.

and TX error counters
commit 044012b52029204900af9e4230263418427f4ba4 upstream.
This patch fixes the interchanged fetch of the CAN RX and TX error
counters from the ESD_EV_CAN_ERROR_EXT message. The RX error counter
is really in struct rx_msg::data[2] and the TX error counter is in
struct rx_msg::data[3].

commit 928150fad41ba16df7fcc9f7f945747d0f56cbb6 upstream.
In esd_usb2_setup_rx_urbs() MAX_RX_URBS coherent buffers are allocated
and there is nothing, that frees them:
1) In callback function the urb is resubmitted and that's all
2) In disconnect function urbs are simply killed, but URB_FREE_BUFFER
is not set (see esd_usb2_setup_rx_urbs) and this flag cannot be used
with coherent buffers.
So, all allocated buffers should be freed with usb_free_coherent()
explicitly.
Side note: This code looks like a copy-paste of other can drivers. The
same patch was applied to mcba_usb driver and it works nice with real
hardware. There is no change in functionality, only clean-up code for
coherent buffers.

commit ab4a0b8fcb9a95c02909b62049811bd2e586aaa4 upstream.
In ems_usb_disconnect() dev pointer, which is netdev private data, is
used after free_candev() call:
| if (dev) {
| unregister_netdev(dev->netdev);
| free_candev(dev->netdev);
|
| unlink_all_urbs(dev);
|
| usb_free_urb(dev->intr_urb);
|
| kfree(dev->intr_in_buffer);
| kfree(dev->tx_msg_buffer);
| }
Fix it by simply moving free_candev() at the end of the block.

commit a0b96b4a62745397aee662670cfc2157bac03f55 upstream.
syzbot reported memory leak in peak_usb.
The problem was in case of failure after calling
->dev_init()[2] in peak_usb_create_dev()[1]. The data
allocated int dev_init() wasn't freed, so simple
->dev_free() call fix this problem.

commit 47c5e474bc1e1061fb037d13b5000b38967eb070 upstream.
For cases when flexcan is built-in, bitrate is still not set at
registering. So flexcan_chip_freeze() generates:
[ 1.860000] *** ZERO DIVIDE *** FORMAT=4
[ 1.860000] Current process id is 1
[ 1.860000] BAD KERNEL TRAP: 00000000
[ 1.860000] PC: [<402e70c8>] flexcan_chip_freeze+0x1a/0xa8
To allow chip freeze, using an hardcoded timeout when bitrate is still
not set.

commit 3a5ca857079ea022e0b1b17fc154f7ad7dbc150f upstream.
When a non-initial netns is destroyed, the usual policy is to delete
all virtual network interfaces contained, but move physical interfaces
back to the initial netns. This keeps the physical interface visible
on the system.
CAN devices are somewhat special, as they define rtnl_link_ops even
if they are physical devices. If a CAN interface is moved into a
non-initial netns, destroying that netns lets the interface vanish
instead of moving it back to the initial netns. default_device_exit()
skips CAN interfaces due to having rtnl_link_ops set. Reproducer:
ip netns add foo
ip link set can0 netns foo
ip netns delete foo

To properly restore physical CAN devices to the initial netns on owning
netns exit, introduce a flag on rtnl_link_ops that can be set by drivers.
For CAN devices setting this flag, default_device_exit() considers them
non-virtual, applying the usual namespace move.
The issue was introduced in the commit mentioned below, as at that time
CAN devices did not have a dellink() operation.

Message loss from RX FIFO 0 is already handled in
m_can_handle_lost_msg(), with netdev output included.
Removing this warning also improves driver performance under heavy
load, where m_can_do_rx_poll() may be called many times before this
interrupt is cleared, causing this message to be output many
times (thanks Mariusz Madej for this report).

the value to be used in the statistics has to be zero for RTR frames.

[ Upstream commit 2283f79b22684d2812e5c76fc2280aae00390365 ]
If a driver calls can_get_echo_skb() during a hardware IRQ (which is often, but
not always, the case), the 'WARN_ON(in_irq)' in
net/core/skbuff.c#skb_release_head_state() might be triggered, under network
congestion circumstances, together with the potential risk of a NULL pointer
dereference.
The root cause of this issue is the call to kfree_skb() instead of
dev_kfree_skb_irq() in net/core/dev.c#enqueue_to_backlog().
This patch prevents the skb to be freed within the call to netif_rx() by
incrementing its reference count with skb_get(). The skb is finally freed by
one of the in-irq-context safe functions: dev_consume_skb_any() or
dev_kfree_skb_any(). The "any" version is used because some drivers might call
can_get_echo_skb() in a normal context.
The reason for this issue to occur is that initially, in the core network
stack, loopback skb were not supposed to be received in hardware IRQ context.
The CAN stack is an exeption.
This bug was previously reported back in 2017 in [1] but the proposed patch
never got accepted.
While [1] directly modifies net/core/dev.c, we try to propose here a
smoother modification local to CAN network stack (the assumption
behind is that only CAN devices are affected by this issue).

Commit 9ebd796e2400 ("can: slcan: Fix use-after-free Read in
slcan_open") was incorrectly backported to 4.4 and 4.9 stable
branches.
Since they do not have commit cf124db566e6 ("net: Fix inconsistent
teardown and release of private netdev state."), the destructor
function slc_free_netdev() is already responsible for calling
free_netdev() and slcan_open() must not call both of them.
yangerkun previously fixed the same bug in slip.

[ Upstream commit b9258a2cece4ec1f020715fe3554bc2e360f6264 ]
struct can_frame contains some padding which is not explicitly zeroed in
slc_bump. This uninitialized data will then be transmitted if the stack
initialization hardening feature is not enabled (CONFIG_INIT_STACK_ALL).
This commit just zeroes the whole struct including the padding.

[ Upstream commit 2091a3d42b4f339eaeed11228e0cbe9d4f92f558 ]
As the description before netdev_run_todo, we cannot call free_netdev
before rtnl_unlock, fix it by reorder the code.
This patch is a 1:1 copy of upstream slip.c commit f596c87005f7
("slip: not call free_netdev before rtnl_unlock in slip_open").
