commit 8a7e27fd5cd696ba564a3f62cedef7269cfd0723 upstream.
usbtv doesn't support power management, so on system suspend the
.disconnect callback of the driver is called. The teardown sequence
includes a call to snd_card_free. Its implementation waits until the
refcount of the sound card device drops to zero, however, if its file is
open, snd_card_file_add takes a reference, which can't be dropped during
the suspend, because the userspace processes are already frozen at this
point. snd_card_free waits for completion forever, leading to a hang on
suspend.
This commit fixes this deadlock condition by replacing snd_card_free
with snd_card_free_when_closed, that doesn't wait until all references
are released, allowing suspend to progress.

commit bf65f8aabdb37bc1a785884374e919477fe13e10 upstream.
The premature free in the error path is blocked by V4L
refcounting, not USB refcounting. Thanks to
Ben Hutchings for review.

commit 536f561d871c5781bc33d26d415685211b94032e upstream.
The driver was issuing synchronous uninterruptible control requests
without using a timeout. This could lead to the driver hanging on
various user requests due to a malfunctioning (or malicious) device
until the device is physically disconnected.
The USB upper limit of five seconds per request should be more than
enough.

commit 50e7044535537b2a54c7ab798cd34c7f6d900bd2 upstream.
Quoting the original report:
It looks like there is a double-free vulnerability in Linux usbtv driver
on an error path of usbtv_probe function. When audio registration fails,
usbtv_video_free function ends up freeing usbtv data structure, which
gets freed the second time under usbtv_video_fail label.
usbtv_audio_fail:
usbtv_video_free(usbtv); =>
v4l2_device_put(&usbtv->v4l2_dev);
=> v4l2_device_put
=> kref_put
=> v4l2_device_release
=> usbtv_release (CALLBACK)
=> kfree(usbtv) (1st time)
usbtv_video_fail:
usb_set_intfdata(intf, NULL);
usb_put_dev(usbtv->udev);
kfree(usbtv); (2nd time)
So, as we have refcounting, use it

A new usbid of UTV007 is found in a newly bought device.
The usbid is 1f71:3301.
The ID on the chip is:
UTV007
A89029.1

commit 2a00932f082aff93c3a55426e0c7af6d0ec03997 upstream.
When disconnecting the usbtv device, the sound card is unregistered
from ALSA and the snd member of the usbtv struct is set to NULL. If
the usbtv snd_trigger work is running, this can cause a race condition
where the kernel will attempt to access free'd resources, shown in
[1].
This patch fixes the disconnection code by cancelling any snd_trigger
work before unregistering the sound card from ALSA and checking that
the snd member still exists in the work function.

Remove v4l2 stuff - v4l2_buf, v4l2_plane - from struct vb2_buffer.
Add new member variables - bytesused, length, offset, userptr, fd,
data_offset - to struct vb2_plane in order to cover all information
of v4l2_plane.
struct vb2_plane {
<snip>
unsigned int bytesused;
unsigned int length;
union {
unsigned int offset;
unsigned long userptr;
int fd;
} m;
unsigned int data_offset;
}
Replace v4l2_buf with new member variables - index, type, memory - which
are common fields for buffer management.
struct vb2_buffer {
<snip>
unsigned int index;
unsigned int type;
unsigned int memory;
unsigned int num_planes;
struct vb2_plane planes[VIDEO_MAX_PLANES];
<snip>
};
v4l2 specific fields - flags, field, timestamp, timecode,
sequence - are moved to vb2_v4l2_buffer in videobuf2-v4l2.c
struct vb2_v4l2_buffer {
struct vb2_buffer vb2_buf;

Make videobuf2-v4l2 as a wrapper of videobuf2-core for v4l2-use.
And replace videobuf2-core.h with videobuf2-v4l2.h.
This renaming change should be accompanied by the modifications
of all device drivers that include videobuf2-core.h.
It can be done with just running this shell script.
replace()
{
str1=$1

for file in $(find $dir -name *.h -o -name *.c -o -name Makefile)
do
echo $file

The vb2 core ignores any return code from the stop_streaming op.
And there really isn't anything it can do anyway in case of an error.
So change the return type to void and update any drivers that implement it.
The int return gave drivers the idea that this operation could actually
fail, but that's really not the case.
The pwc amd sdr-msi3101 drivers both had this construction:
if (mutex_lock_interruptible(&s->v4l2_lock))
return -ERESTARTSYS;
This has been updated to just call mutex_lock(). The stop_streaming op
expects this to really stop streaming and I very much doubt this will
work reliably if stop_streaming just returns without really stopping the
DMA.

The image data is laid out a bit more weirdly and thus needs more work to
properly interlace. What we get from hardware is V4L2_FIELD_ALTERNATE, but
since userspace support for it is practically nonexistent, thus we make
V4L2_FIELD_INTERLACED from it so that it's more easily interpreted.

drivers/built-in.o: In function `vb2_ioctl_expbuf':
...
That happens when:
CONFIG_VIDEO_DEV=y
CONFIG_VIDEO_V4L2=m
CONFIG_VIDEO_USBTV=y
As the core is module, usbtv should also be compiled as module.

Reverse-engineered driver for cheapo video digitizer, made from observations of
Windows XP driver. The protocol is not yet completely understood, so far we
don't provide any controls, only support a single format out of three and don't
support the audio device.
