The hardware channel next descriptor view structure contains just
fields of 32 bits, while dma_addr_t can be of type u64 or u32
depending on CONFIG_ARCH_DMA_ADDR_T_64BIT. Force u32 to comply with
what the hardware expects.

tx_submit is supposed to push the current transaction descriptor to a
pending queue, waiting for issue_pending() to be called. issue_pending()
must start the transfer, not tx_submit(), thus remove
at_xdmac_start_xfer() from at_xdmac_tx_submit(). Clients of at_xdmac that
assume that tx_submit() starts the transfer must be updated and call
dma_async_issue_pending() if they miss to call it (one example is
atmel_serial).
As the at_xdmac_start_xfer() is now called only from
at_xdmac_advance_work() when !at_xdmac_chan_is_enabled(), the
at_xdmac_chan_is_enabled() check is no longer needed in
at_xdmac_start_xfer(), thus remove it.

The last driver referencing the slave_id on Marvell PXA and MMP platforms
was the SPI driver, but this stopped doing so a long time ago, so the
TODO from the earlier patch can no be removed.

AT_XDMAC_CC_PERID() should be used to setup bits 24..30 of XDMAC_CC
register. Using it without parenthesis around 0x7f & (i) will lead to
setting all the time zero for bits 24..30 of XDMAC_CC as the << operator
has higher precedence over bitwise &. Thus, add paranthesis around
0x7f & (i).

Currently the CRST parsing relies on the fact that on most of x86 devices
the IRQ mapping is 1:1 with Linux vIRQ. However, it may be not true for
some. Fix this by converting GSI to Linux vIRQ before checking it.

If the router_xlate can not find the controller in the available DMA
devices then it should return with -EPORBE_DEFER in a same way as the
of_dma_request_slave_channel() does.
The issue can be reproduced if the event router is registered before the
DMA controller itself and a driver would request for a channel before the
controller is registered.
In of_dma_request_slave_channel():
1. of_dma_find_controller() would find the dma_router
2. ofdma->of_dma_xlate() would fail and returned NULL
3. -ENODEV is returned as error code
with this patch we would return in this case the correct -EPROBE_DEFER and
the client can try to request the channel later.

pm_runtime_get_sync will increment pm usage counter even it failed.
Forgetting to putting operation will result in reference leak here.
Fix it by moving the error_pm label above the pm_runtime_put() in
the error path.

The jz4780_dma_tx_status() function would check if a channel's cookie
state was set to 'completed', and if not, it would enter the critical
section. However, in that time frame, the jz4780_dma_chan_irq() function
was able to set the cookie to 'completed', and clear the jzchan->vchan
pointer, which was deferenced in the critical section of the first
function.
Fix this race by checking the channel's cookie state after entering the
critical function and not before.

Issue looks like race condition between interrupt handler fsl_edma_tx_handler()
(called as result of fsl_edma_xfer_desc()) and terminating the transfer with
fsl_edma_terminate_all().
The fsl_edma_tx_handler() handles interrupt for a transfer with already freed
edesc and idle==true.

When a channel configuration fails, the status of the channel is set to
DEV_ERROR so that an attempt to submit it fails. However, this status
sticks until the heat end of the universe, making it impossible to
recover from the error.
Let's reset it when the channel is released so that further use of the
channel with correct configuration is not impacted.

pd->dma.dev is read in irq handler pd_irq().
However, it is set to pdev->dev after request_irq().
Therefore, set pd->dma.dev to pdev->dev before request_irq() to
avoid data race between pch_dma_probe() and pd_irq().
Found by Linux Driver Verification project (linuxtesting.org).

Due to changes in device and platform code drivers w/o probe will fail to
load. This means that the devices for eDMA TPTCs are goign to be without
driver and omap hwmod code will turn them off after the kernel finished
loading:

[ 3.024671] platform 49a00000.tptc: omap_device_late_idle: enabled but no driver. Idling
This will prevent eDMA to work since the TPTCs are not enabled.

Under some circumstances, i.e. when test is still running and about to
time out and user runs, for example,
grep -H . /sys/module/dmatest/parameters/*
the iterations parameter is not respected and test is going on and on until
user gives
echo 0 > /sys/module/dmatest/parameters/run
This is not what expected.
The history of this bug is interesting. I though that the commit
2d88ce76eb98 ("dmatest: add a 'wait' parameter")
is a culprit, but looking closer to the code I think it simple revealed the
broken logic from the day one, i.e. in the commit
0a2ff57d6fba ("dmaengine: dmatest: add a maximum number of test iterations")
which adds iterations parameter.
So, to the point, the conditional of checking the thread to be stopped being
first part of conjunction logic prevents to check iterations. Thus, we have to
always check both conditions to be able to stop after given iterations.
Since it wasn't visible before second commit appeared, I add a respective

The interrupt handler puts a half-completed DMA descriptor on a free list
and then schedules tasklet to process bottom half of the descriptor that
executes client's callback, this creates possibility to pick up the busy
descriptor from the free list. Thus, let's disallow descriptor's re-use
until it is fully processed.

I was doing some experiments with I2C and noticed that Tegra APB DMA
driver crashes sometime after I2C DMA transfer termination. The crash
happens because tegra_dma_terminate_all() bails out immediately if pending
list is empty, and thus, it doesn't release the half-completed descriptors
which are getting re-used before ISR tasklet kicks-in.

Illegal memory will be touch if SDMA_SCRIPT_ADDRS_ARRAY_SIZE_V3
(41) exceed the size of structure sdma_script_start_addrs(40),
thus cause memory corrupt such as slob block header so that kernel
trap into while() loop forever in slob_free(). Please refer to below
code piece in imx-sdma.c:

That issue was brought by commit a572460be9cf ("dmaengine: imx-sdma: Add

sdma_script_start_addrs(2 scripts).

In 2D transfers (for the AXI DMAC), the number of frames (numf) represents
Y_LENGTH, and the length of a frame is X_LENGTH. 2D transfers are useful
for video transfers where screen resolutions ( X * Y ) are typically
aligned for X, but not for Y.
There is no requirement for Y_LENGTH to be aligned to the bus-width (or
anything), and this is also true for AXI DMAC.
Checking the Y_LENGTH for alignment causes false errors when initiating DMA
transfers. This change fixes this by checking only that the Y_LENGTH is
non-zero.
