dlpar_configure_connector() has two problems in its handling of
ibm,configure-connector's return status:
1. When the status is -2 (busy, call again), we call
ibm,configure-connector again immediately without checking whether
to schedule, which can result in monopolizing the CPU.
2. Extended delay status (9900..9905) goes completely unhandled,
causing the configuration to unnecessarily terminate.
Fix both of these issues by using rtas_busy_delay().

There are three ways pseries_suspend_begin() can be reached:
1. When "mem" is written to /sys/power/state:
kobj_attr_store()
-> state_store()
-> pm_suspend()
-> suspend_devices_and_enter()
-> pseries_suspend_begin()
This never works because there is no way to supply a valid stream id
using this interface, and H_VASI_STATE is called with a stream id of
zero. So this call path is useless at best.
2. When a stream id is written to /sys/devices/system/power/hibernate.
pseries_suspend_begin() is polled directly from store_hibernate()
until the stream is in the "Suspending" state (i.e. the platform is
ready for the OS to suspend execution):
dev_attr_store()
-> store_hibernate()
-> pseries_suspend_begin()
3. When a stream id is written to /sys/devices/system/power/hibernate
(continued). After #2, pseries_suspend_begin() is called once again
from the pm core:
dev_attr_store()
-> store_hibernate()
-> pm_suspend()
-> suspend_devices_and_enter()
-> pseries_suspend_begin()
This is redundant because the VASI suspend state is already known to
be Suspending.
The begin() callback of platform_suspend_ops is optional, so we can
simply remove that assignment with no loss of function.

IBM Power9 processors can speculatively operate on data in the L1 cache before
it has been completely validated, via a way-prediction mechanism. It is not possible
for an attacker to determine the contents of impermissible memory using this method,
since these systems implement a combination of hardware and software security measures
to prevent scenarios where protected data could be leaked.
However these measures don't address the scenario where an attacker induces
the operating system to speculatively execute instructions using data that the
attacker controls. This can be used for example to speculatively bypass "kernel
user access prevention" techniques, as discovered by Anthony Steinhauser of
Google's Safeside Project. This is not an attack by itself, but there is a possibility
it could be used in conjunction with side-channels or other weaknesses in the
privileged code to construct an attack.
This issue can be mitigated by flushing the L1 cache between privilege boundaries
of concern. This patch flushes the L1 cache after user accesses.
This is part of the fix for CVE-2020-4788.

As per PAPR we have to look for both EPOW sensor value and event
modifier to identify the type of event and take appropriate action.
In LoPAPR v1.1 section 10.2.2 includes table 136 "EPOW Action Codes":
SYSTEM_SHUTDOWN 3
The system must be shut down. An EPOW-aware OS logs the EPOW error
log information, then schedules the system to be shut down to begin
after an OS defined delay internal (default is 10 minutes.)
Then in section 10.3.2.2.8 there is table 146 "Platform Event Log
Format, Version 6, EPOW Section", which includes the "EPOW Event
Modifier":
For EPOW sensor value = 3
0x01 = Normal system shutdown with no additional delay
0x02 = Loss of utility power, system is running on UPS/Battery
0x03 = Loss of system critical functions, system should be shutdown
0x04 = Ambient temperature too high
All other values = reserved
We have a user space tool (rtas_errd) on LPAR to monitor for
EPOW_SHUTDOWN_ON_UPS. Once it gets an event it initiates shutdown
after predefined time. It also starts monitoring for any new EPOW
events. If it receives "Power restored" event before predefined time
it will cancel the shutdown. Otherwise after predefined time it will
shutdown the system.
Commit 79872e35469b ("powerpc/pseries: All events of
EPOW_SYSTEM_SHUTDOWN must initiate shutdown") changed our handling of
the "on UPS/Battery" case, to immediately shutdown the system. This
breaks existing setups that rely on the userspace tool to delay
shutdown and let the system run on the UPS.

This was discovered developing qemu fwnmi sreset support. This
off-by-one bug means the last 16 bytes of the rtas area can not
be used for a 16 byte save area.
It's not a serious bug, and QEMU implementation has to retain a
workaround for old kernels, but it's good to tighten it.

By default a pseries guest supports a H_PUT_TCE hypercall which maps
a single IOMMU page in a DMA window. Additionally the hypervisor may
support H_PUT_TCE_INDIRECT/H_STUFF_TCE which update multiple TCEs at once;
this is advertised via the device tree /rtas/ibm,hypertas-functions
property which Linux converts to FW_FEATURE_MULTITCE.
FW_FEATURE_MULTITCE is checked when dma_iommu_ops is used; however
the code managing the huge DMA window (DDW) ignores it and calls
H_PUT_TCE_INDIRECT even if it is explicitly disabled via
the "multitce=off" kernel command line parameter.
This adds FW_FEATURE_MULTITCE checking to the DDW code path.
This changes tce_build_pSeriesLP to take liobn and page size as
the huge window does not have iommu_table descriptor which usually
the place to store these numbers.

While developing KASAN for 64-bit book3s, I hit the following stack
over-read.
It occurs because the hypercall to put characters onto the terminal
takes 2 longs (128 bits/16 bytes) of characters at a time, and so
hvc_put_chars() would unconditionally copy 16 bytes from the argument
buffer, regardless of supplied length. However, udbg_hvc_putc() can
call hvc_put_chars() with a single-byte buffer, leading to the error.

When CONFIG_VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING_NATIVE is not set, we look up dtl_idx in
the lppaca to determine the number of entries in the buffer. Since
lppaca is in big endian, we need to do an endian conversion before using
this in our calculation to determine the number of entries in the
buffer. Without this, we do not iterate over the existing entries in the
DTL buffer properly.

When CONFIG_VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING_NATIVE is not set, we register the DTL
buffer for a cpu when the associated file under powerpc/dtl in debugfs
is opened. When doing so, we need to set the size of the buffer being
registered in the second u32 word of the buffer. This needs to be in big
endian, but we are not doing the conversion resulting in the below error
showing up in dmesg:
dtl_start: DTL registration for cpu 0 (hw 0) failed with -4
Fix this in the obvious manner.

prep_irq_for_idle() is intended to be called before entering
H_CEDE (and it is used by the pseries cpuidle driver). However the
default pseries idle routine does not call it, leading to mismanaged
lazy irq state when the cpuidle driver isn't in use. Manifestations of
this include:
* Dropped IPIs in the time immediately after a cpu comes
online (before it has installed the cpuidle handler), making the
online operation block indefinitely waiting for the new cpu to
respond.
* Hitting this WARN_ON in arch_local_irq_restore():

After a partition migration, pseries_devicetree_update() processes
changes to the device tree communicated from the platform to
Linux. This is a relatively heavyweight operation, with multiple
device tree searches, memory allocations, and conversations with
partition firmware.
There's a few levels of nested loops which are bounded only by
decisions made by the platform, outside of Linux's control, and indeed
we have seen RCU stalls on large systems while executing this call
graph. Use cond_resched() in these loops so that the cpu is yielded
when needed.

On some CPUs we can prevent a vulnerability related to store-to-load
forwarding by preventing store forwarding between privilege domains,
by inserting a barrier in kernel entry and exit paths.
This is known to be the case on at least Power7, Power8 and Power9
powerpc CPUs.
Barriers must be inserted generally before the first load after moving
to a higher privilege, and after the last store before moving to a
lower privilege, HV and PR privilege transitions must be protected.
Barriers are added as patch sections, with all kernel/hypervisor entry
points patched, and the exit points to lower privilge levels patched
similarly to the RFI flush patching.
Firmware advertisement is not implemented yet, so CPU flush types
are hard coded.

After migration the security feature flags might have changed (e.g.,
destination system with unpatched firmware), but some flags are not
set/clear again in init_cpu_char_feature_flags() because it assumes
the security flags to be the defaults.
Additionally, if the H_GET_CPU_CHARACTERISTICS hypercall fails then
init_cpu_char_feature_flags() does not run again, which potentially
might leave the system in an insecure or sub-optimal configuration.
So, just restore the security feature flags to the defaults assumed
by init_cpu_char_feature_flags() so it can set/clear them correctly,
and to ensure safe settings are in place in case the hypercall fail.

The H_CPU_BEHAV_* flags should be checked for in the 'behaviour' field
of 'struct h_cpu_char_result' -- 'character' is for H_CPU_CHAR_*
flags.
Found by playing around with QEMU's implementation of the hypercall:

mitigation at all for cpu_show_meltdown() to report; but currently

The global mce data buffer that used to copy rtas error log is of 2048
(RTAS_ERROR_LOG_MAX) bytes in size. Before the copy we read
extended_log_length from rtas error log header, then use max of
extended_log_length and RTAS_ERROR_LOG_MAX as a size of data to be copied.
Ideally the platform (phyp) will never send extended error log with
size > 2048. But if that happens, then we have a risk of buffer overrun
and corruption. Fix this by using min_t instead.

During Machine Check interrupt on pseries platform, register r3 points
RTAS extended event log passed by hypervisor. Since hypervisor uses r3
to pass pointer to rtas log, it stores the original r3 value at the
start of the memory (first 8 bytes) pointed by r3. Since hypervisor
stores this info and rtas log is in BE format, linux should make
sure to restore r3 value in correct endian format.
Without this patch when MCE handler, after recovery, returns to code that
that caused the MCE may end up with Data SLB access interrupt for invalid
address followed by kernel panic or hang.

A reference to the parent device node is held by add_dt_node() for the
node to be added. If the call to dlpar_configure_connector() fails
add_dt_node() returns ENOENT and that reference is not freed.

When adding or removing memory, the aa_index (affinity value) for the
memblock must also be converted to match the endianness of the rest
of the 'ibm,dynamic-memory' property. Otherwise, subsequent retrieval
of the attribute will likely lead to non-existent nodes, followed by
using the default node in the code inappropriately.

Historically struct device_node references were tracked using a kref embedded as
a struct field. Commit 75b57ecf9d1d ("of: Make device nodes kobjects so they
show up in sysfs") (Mar 2014) refactored device_nodes to be kobjects such that
the device tree could by more simply exposed to userspace using sysfs.
Commit 0829f6d1f69e ("of: device_node kobject lifecycle fixes") (Mar 2014)
followed up these changes to better control the kobject lifecycle and in
particular the referecne counting via of_node_get(), of_node_put(), and
of_node_init().
A result of this second commit was that it introduced an of_node_put() call when
a dynamic node is detached, in of_node_remove(), that removes the initial kobj
reference created by of_node_init().
Traditionally as the original dynamic device node user the pseries code had
assumed responsibilty for releasing this final reference in its platform
specific DLPAR detach code.
This patch fixes a refcount underflow introduced by commit 0829f6d1f6, and
recently exposed by the upstreaming of the recount API.
Messages like the following are no longer seen in the kernel log with this
patch following DLPAR remove operations of cpus and pci devices.

with the huge pages.
In __pSeries_lpar_hugepage_invalidate() the buffer used to pass arguments
to the hypervisor is not large enough. This leads to a stack corruption

Most of the time, the bug is surfacing in a caller up in the stack from
__pSeries_lpar_hugepage_invalidate() which is quite confusing.
This bug is pending since v3.11 but was hidden if a caller of the
caller of __pSeries_lpar_hugepage_invalidate() has pushed the corruped
register (r18 in this case) in the stack and is not using it until
restoring it. GCC 6.2.0 seems to raise it more frequently.
This commit also change the definition of the parameter buffer in
pSeries_lpar_flush_hash_range() to rely on the global define
PLPAR_HCALL9_BUFSIZE (no functional change here).

In commit 8445a87f7092 "powerpc/iommu: Remove the dependency on EEH
struct in DDW mechanism", the PE address was replaced with the PCI
config address in order to remove dependency on EEH. According to PAPR
spec, firmware (pHyp or QEMU) should accept "xxBBSSxx" format PCI config
address, not "xxxxBBSS" provided by the patch. Note that "BB" is PCI bus
number and "SS" is the combination of slot and function number.
This fixes the PCI address passed to DDW RTAS calls.

Commit 39baadbf36ce ("powerpc/eeh: Remove eeh information from pci_dn")
changed the pci_dn struct by removing its EEH-related members.
As part of this clean-up, DDW mechanism was modified to read the device
configuration address from eeh_dev struct.
As a consequence, now if we disable EEH mechanism on kernel command-line
for example, the DDW mechanism will fail, generating a kernel oops by
dereferencing a NULL pointer (which turns to be the eeh_dev pointer).
This patch just changes the configuration address calculation on DDW
functions to a manual calculation based on pci_dn members instead of
using eeh_dev-based address.
No functional changes were made. This was tested on pSeries, both
in PHyp and qemu guest.

In the "ibm,configure-pe" and "ibm,configure-bridge" RTAS calls, the
spec states that values of 9900-9905 can be returned, indicating that
software should delay for 10^x (where x is the last digit, i.e. 990x)
milliseconds and attempt the call again. Currently, the kernel doesn't
know about this, and respecting it fixes some PCI failures when the
hypervisor is busy.
The delay is capped at 0.2 seconds.

When find_and_init_phbs() looks for the probe-only property, it seems to
trust the firmware to be correctly written, and assumes that there is a
parameter to the property.
It is conceivable that the firmware could not be that perfect, and it could
expose this property naked (at least one arm64 platform seems to exhibit
this exact behaviour). The setup code the ends up making a decision based
on whatever the property pointer points to, which is likely to be junk.
Instead, switch to the common of_pci.c implementation that doesn't suffer
from this problem and ignore the property if the firmware couldn't make up
its mind.

Commit a030e1e4bbd085bbcfd0a23f8d355fcd41f39bed make a change to use
kstrndup() instead of kmalloc() + strlcpy() in the pseries_of_derive_parent()
routine that introduces a subtle change in the parent path name generated.
The kstrndup() routine will copy n characters followed by a terminating null,
whereas strlcpy() will copy n-1 characters and add a terminating null.
This slight difference results in having a parent path that includes the
tailing '/' character, "/cpus/" vs. "/cpus". This then causes the subsequent
call to of_find_node_by_path() to fail, and in the case of DLPAR add
operations the DLPAR request fails.
This patch decrements the pointer returned from kbasename() to point to the
'/' character before the base name instead of the base name. This then
adjusts the string length calculations to not include the trailing '/'
in the parent path name.

This cleans up pseries_eeh_get_state(), no functional changes:
* Return EEH_STATE_NOT_SUPPORT early when the 2nd RTAS output
argument is zero to avoid nested if statements.
* Skip clearing bits in the PE state represented by variable
"result" to simplify the code.

Now that pseries selects PCI_MSI && PCI, EEH will always be true, and
therefore CONFIG_PSERIES_MSI will always be true. So drop it, and move
msi.o to obj-y.

Make it entirely clear in the Makefile that we always build the pci
related files by moving them to obj-y.
Note that CONFIG_EEH is now always enabled on pseries, because it
depends on PSERIES && PCI.

The pseries build with PCI=n looks to have been broken for at least 5
years, and no one's noticed or cared.
Following the obvious breakages backward, the first commit I can find
that builds is the parent of 2eb4afb69ff3 ("powerpc/pci: Move pseries
code into pseries platform specific area") from April 2009.
A distro would never ship a PCI=n kernel, so it is only useful for folks
building custom kernels. Also on KVM the virtio devices appear on PCI,
so it would only be useful if you were building kernels specifically to
run on PowerVM and with no PCI devices.
The added code complexity, and testing load (which we've clearly not
been doing), is not justified by the small reduction in kernel size for
such a niche use case.
So just make PCI non-optional on pseries.
