| * mips/panic: replace smp_send_stop() with kdump friendly version in panic pathHidehiro Kawai2020-05-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 54c721b857fd45f3ad3bda695ee4f472518db02a upstream. Daniel Walker reported problems which happens when crash_kexec_post_notifiers kernel option is enabled (https://lkml.org/lkml/2015/6/24/44). In that case, smp_send_stop() is called before entering kdump routines which assume other CPUs are still online. As the result, kdump routines fail to save other CPUs' registers. Additionally for MIPS OCTEON, it misses to stop the watchdog timer. To fix this problem, call a new kdump friendly function, crash_smp_send_stop(), instead of the smp_send_stop() when crash_kexec_post_notifiers is enabled. crash_smp_send_stop() is a weak function, and it just call smp_send_stop(). Architecture codes should override it so that kdump can work appropriately. This patch provides MIPS version. | * MIPS: SMP: Update cpu_foreign_map on CPU disableJames Hogan2020-05-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 826e99be6ab5189dbfb096389016ffb8d20a683e upstream. When a CPU is disabled via CPU hotplug, cpu_foreign_map is not updated. This could result in cache management SMP calls being sent to offline CPUs instead of online siblings in the same core. Add a call to calculate_cpu_foreign_map() in the various MIPS cpu disable callbacks after set_cpu_online(). All cases are updated for consistency and to keep cpu_foreign_map strictly up to date, not just those which may support hardware multithreading. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 792a402c2840054533ef56279c212ef6da87d811 upstream. There is a potential NULL pointer dereference in case kzalloc() fails and returns NULL. Fix this by adding a NULL check on *cd* This bug was detected with the help of Coccinelle. | * MIPS: OCTEON: fix out of bounds array access on CN68XXAaro Koskinen2018-11-21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit c0fae7e2452b90c31edd2d25eb3baf0c76b400ca upstream. The maximum number of interfaces is returned by cvmx_helper_get_number_of_interfaces(), and the value is used to access interface_port_count[]. When CN68XX support was added, we forgot to increase the array size. Fix that. * MIPS: OCTEON: Fix copy_from_user fault handling for large buffersJames Cowgill2017-03-12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit 884b426917e4b3c85f33b382c792a94305dfdd62 upstream. If copy_from_user is called with a large buffer (>= 128 bytes) and the userspace buffer refers partially to unreadable memory, then it is possible for Octeon's copy_from_user to report the wrong number of bytes have been copied. In the case where the buffer size is an exact multiple of 128 and the fault occurs in the last 64 bytes, copy_from_user will report that all the bytes were copied successfully but leave some garbage in the destination buffer. The bug is in the main __copy_user_common loop in octeon-memcpy.S where in the middle of the loop, src and dst are incremented by 128 bytes. The l_exc_copy fault handler is used after this but that assumes that "src < THREAD_BUADDR($28)". This is not the case if src has already been incremented. Fix by adding an extra fault handler which rewinds the src and dst pointers 128 bytes before falling though to l_exc_copy. Thanks to the pwritev test from the strace test suite for originally highlighting this bug! Fixes: 5b3b16880f40 ("MIPS: Add Cavium OCTEON processor support ...") * MIPS: Octeon: Fix kernel panic on startup from memory corruptionMatt Bennett2015-10-02
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | During development it was found that a number of builds would panic during the kernel init process, more specifically in 'delayed_fput()'. The panic showed the kernel trying to access a memory address of '0xb7fdc00' while traversing the 'delayed_fput_list' structure. Comparing this memory address to the value of the pointer used on builds that did not panic confirmed that the pointer on crashing builds must have been corrupted at some stage earlier in the init process. By traversing the list earlier and earlier in the code it was found that 'plat_mem_setup()' was responsible for corrupting the list. Specifically the line: memory = cvmx_bootmem_phy_alloc(mem_alloc_size, __pa_symbol(&__init_end), -1, 0x100000, CVMX_BOOTMEM_FLAG_NO_LOCKING); Which would eventually call: cvmx_bootmem_phy_set_size(new_ent_addr, cvmx_bootmem_phy_get_size (ent_addr) - (desired_min_addr - ent_addr)); Where 'new_ent_addr'=0x4800000 (the address of 'delayed_fput_list') and the second argument (size)=0xb7fdc00 (the address causing the kernel panic). The job of this part of 'plat_mem_setup()' is to allocate chunks of memory for the kernel to use. At the start of each chunk of memory the size of the chunk is written, hence the value 0xb7fdc00 is written onto memory at 0x4800000, therefore the kernel panics when it goes back to access 'delayed_fput_list' later on in the initialisation process. On builds that were not crashing it was found that the compiler had placed 'delayed_fput_list' at 0x4800008, meaning it wasn't corrupted (but something else in memory was overwritten). As can be seen in the first function call above the code begins to allocate chunks of memory beginning from the symbol '__init_end'. The MIPS linker script (vmlinux.lds.S) however defines the .bss section to begin after '__init_end'. Therefore memory within the .bss section is allocated to the kernel to use (System.map shows 'delayed_fput_list' and other kernel structures to be in .bss). To stop the kernel panic (and the .bss section being corrupted) memory should begin being allocated from the symbol '_end'. * dma-mapping: consolidate dma_{alloc,free}_{attrs,coherent}Christoph Hellwig2015-09-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Since 2009 we have a nice asm-generic header implementing lots of DMA API functions for architectures using struct dma_map_ops, but unfortunately it's still missing a lot of APIs that all architectures still have to duplicate. This series consolidates the remaining functions, although we still need arch opt outs for two of them as a few architectures have very non-standard implementations. This patch (of 5): The coherent DMA allocator works the same over all architectures supporting dma_map operations. This patch consolidates them and converges the minor differences: - the debug_dma helpers are now called from all architectures, including those that were previously missing them - dma_alloc_from_coherent and dma_release_from_coherent are now always called from the generic alloc/free routines instead of the ops dma-mapping-common.h always includes dma-coherent.h to get the defintions for them, or the stubs if the architecture doesn't support this feature - checks for ->alloc / ->free presence are removed. There is only one magic instead of dma_map_ops without them (mic_dma_ops) and that one is x86 only anyway. Besides that only x86 needs special treatment to replace a default devices if none is passed and tweak the gfp_flags. An optional arch hook is provided for that. * MIPS: octeon: Replace the homebrewn flow handlerThomas Gleixner2015-08-26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The gpio interrupt handling of octeon contains a homebrewn flow handler which calls either handle_level_irq or handle_edge_irq depending on the trigger type. Thats an extra conditional and call in the interrupt handling path. The proper way to handle different types and therefor different flows is to update the handler in the irq_set_type() callback. Remove the extra indirection and add the handler update to octeon_irq_ciu_gpio_set_type(). At mapping time it defaults to handle_level_irq which gets updated if the device tree contains a different trigger type. * MIPS: SMP: Don't increment irq_count multiple times for call function IPIsAlex Smith2015-08-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The majority of SMP platforms handle their IPIs through do_IRQ() which calls irq_{enter/exit}(). When a call function IPI is received, smp_call_function_interrupt() is called which also calls irq_{enter,exit}(), meaning irq_count is raised twice. When tick broadcasting is used (which is implemented via a call function IPI), this incorrectly causes all CPU idle time on the core receiving broadcast ticks to be accounted as time spent servicing IRQs, as account_process_tick() will account as such if irq_count is greater than 1. This results in 100% CPU usage being reported on a core which receives its ticks via broadcast. This patch removes the SMP smp_call_function_interrupt() wrapper which calls irq_{enter,exit}(). Platforms which handle their IPIs through do_IRQ() now call generic_smp_call_function_interrupt() directly to avoid incrementing irq_count a second time. Platforms which don't (loongson, sgi-ip27, sibyte) call generic_smp_call_function_interrupt() wrapped in irq_{enter,exit}().
