This patch is only here to be able to test provisioning of energy related
data from an arch topology shim layer to the scheduler. Since there is no
code today which deals with extracting energy related data from the dtb or
acpi, and process it in the topology shim layer, the content of the
sched_group_energy structures as well as the idle_state and capacity_state
arrays are hard-coded here.
This patch defines the sched_group_energy structure as well as the
idle_state and capacity_state array for the cluster (relates to sched
groups (sgs) in DIE sched domain level) and for the core (relates to sgs
in MC sd level) for a Cortex A7 as well as for a Cortex A15.
It further provides related implementations of the sched_domain_energy_f
functions (cpu_cluster_energy() and cpu_core_energy()).
To be able to propagate this information from the topology shim layer to
the scheduler, the elements of the arm_topology[] table have been
provisioned with the appropriate sched_domain_energy_f functions.

Maximum Frequency Invariance has to be part of Cpu Invariance because
Frequency Invariance deals only with differences in load-tracking
introduces by Dynamic Frequency Scaling and not with limiting the
possible range of cpu frequency.
By placing Maximum Frequency Invariance into Cpu Invariance,
load-tracking is scaled via arch_scale_cpu_capacity()
in __update_load_avg() and cpu capacity is scaled via
arch_scale_cpu_capacity() in update_cpu_capacity().
To be able to save the extra multiplication in the scheduler hotpath
(__update_load_avg()) we could:
1 Inform cpufreq about base cpu capacity at boot and let it handle
scale_cpu_capacity() as well.
2 Use the cpufreq policy callback which would update a per-cpu current
cpu_scale and this value would be return in scale_cpu_capacity().
3 Use per-cpu current max_freq_scale and current cpu_scale with the
current patch.

Provides the scheduler with a cpu scaling correction factor for more
accurate load-tracking and cpu capacity handling.
The Energy Model (EM) (in fact the capacity value of the last element
of the capacity states vector of the core (MC) level sched_group_energy
structure) is used instead of the arm arch specific cpu_efficiency and
dtb property 'clock-frequency' values as the source for this cpu
scaling factor.
The cpu capacity value depends on the micro-architecture and the
maximum frequency of the cpu.
The maximum frequency part should not be confused with the frequency
invariant scheduler load-tracking support which deals with frequency
related scaling due to DFVS functionality.

cpufreq is currently keeping it a secret which cpus are sharing
clock source. The scheduler needs to know about clock domains as well
to become more energy aware. The SD_SHARE_CAP_STATES domain flag
indicates whether cpus belonging to the sched_domain share capacity
states (P-states).
There is no connection with cpufreq (yet). The flag must be set by
the arch specific topology code.

The _etext position is defined to be the end of the kernel text code,
and should not include any part of the data segments. This interferes
with things that might check memory ranges and expect executable code
up to _etext. Just to be conservative, leave the kernel resource as
it was, using __init_begin instead of _etext as the end mark.

commit e2dfb4b880146bfd4b6aa8e138c0205407cebbaf upstream.
PTRACE_SETVFPREGS fails to properly mark the VFP register set to be
reloaded, because it undoes one of the effects of vfp_flush_hwstate().
Specifically vfp_flush_hwstate() sets thread->vfpstate.hard.cpu to
an invalid CPU number, but vfp_set() overwrites this with the original
CPU number, thereby rendering the hardware state as apparently "valid",
even though the software state is more recent.
Fix this by reverting the previous change.

The efficiency of a CPU can vary across SoCs depending on the cache size,
bus interconnect frequencies etc. Allow specifying this from the device
tree. This value overrides the default values hardcoded in the efficiency
table.

On a HMP system, scheduler needs to know efficiency factor
(instructions-per-cycle) for various cpus. This is so that scheduler
can estimate bandwidth consumption of tasks on each cpu, based on
their efficiency factor.
This patch defines arch_get_cpu_efficiency() API in ARM32 architecture.
It depends on hard-coded "efficiency" factor for various cpu types
(available in 'table_efficiency' data structure) and device-tree
providing information on cpu-type for every cpu.

During board initialization read the shared memory item
SMEM_POWER_ON_STATUS_INFO and place it in the procfs at
/proc/sys/kernel/boot_reason
The data item is an integer with a bit being set to identify the reason
the device was powered on. The values of this data item is defined in
the document Document/arm/msm/boot.txt, the following is the data in the
documentation file.
power_on_status values set by the PMIC for power on event:

There are high chances for hrtimer_interrupt() interrupt on
one of the core and other core executing sys_reboot simultaneously.
In such a situation we could see ipi_cpu_stop() marking a cpu
as 'offline' but hrtimer_wakeup() can schedule a task on
offline core, resulting BUG_ON in smp_send_reschedule().
In fact that the CPU is not really offline but ipi_cpu_stop()
is marking it as offline.
CPU0 CPU1 CPU2
sys_reboot()
kernel_restart()
machine_restart()
machine_shutdown()
smp_send_stop() ...
... ipi_cpu_stop() hrtimer_interrupt()
set_cpu_online(1, false) __run_hrtimer()
local_irq_disable() hrtimer_wakeup()
while(1) try_to_wake_up()
ttwu_do_wakeup()
check_preempt_curr()
smp_send_reschedule()
BUG_ON(cpu_is_offline(1));
This is easily reproducible in device continuous reboot testing.
Since the CPU is not really offline and hasn't gone through the
proper steps to be marked as such, let's mark the CPU as inactive.

A cluster is set of CPUs sharing some power controls and an L2 cache.
This patch buids a list of clusters at bootup which are sorted by
their max_power_cost. Many cluster-shared attributes like cur_freq,
max_freq etc are needlessly maintained in per-cpu 'struct rq' currently.
Consolidate them in a cluster structure.

The random pool relies on devices and other items in the system
to add entropy to the pool. Most of these devices may not be
added until later in the bootup process. This leaves a large
period of time where the random pool may not actually give
random numbers. Add a weak function for devices to override
with their own function to setup the random pool.

A user space application is planned to support feature for
synchronized timestamp among debug packets across peripherals.
As part of the feature, it is responsible for providing physical
timer count value to user space. If memory mapped timer is used
in ARM arch, Usersapce can't read the physical timer count directly
with a MRCC ASM instruction. So Kernel traps the instruction and

LPM modes can fail if there is a pending IPI interrupt at GIC CPU
interface. On some usecases frequent failure of LPM modes can
cause power and performance degradation. Hence, prevent cluster
low power modes when there is a pending IPI on cluster CPUs.

When a process A unwind the stack frame of process B,
the stack of B can be modified and updated in other CPU
concurrently. So KASan could examine stack address with
out of date shadow mask value. To avoid this incorrect
KASan report, disable KASan during unwinding a frame of
a different task.
Following is the Kasan error log for the reference.

__user_swpX_asm maybe failed in first STREX operation, emulate_swpX

causes the result is wrong.
This patch is to fix this issue. When STREX succeed, change the *data.
if it fail, *data is not changed.

When printing the DACR value, we print the domain register value.
This is incorrect, as with SW_PAN enabled, that is the current setting,
rather than the faulting context's setting. Arrange to print the
faulting domain's saved DACR value instead.

Commit b3a72384fe29 ("ARM/PCI: Replace pci_sys_data->align_resource with
global function pointer") introduced an ARM-specific align_resource()
function pointer. This is not portable to other arches and doesn't work
for platforms with two different PCIe host bridge controllers.
Move the function pointer to the pci_host_bridge structure so each host
bridge driver can specify its own align_resource() function.

Now that __cpuinit has been removed, the __ref markings on these
functions are useless. Remove them. This also reduces the size of
the multi_v7_defconfig image:
$ size before after
text data bss dec hex filename

12683274 1470996 348904 14503174 dd4d06 after
presumably because now we don't have to jump to code in the
.ref.text section and/or the noinline marking is removed.

dw_pcie_host_init() creates the PCI host bridge with pci_common_init_dev(),
an ARM-specific function that supplies the ARM-specific pci_sys_data
structure as the PCI "sysdata". To use dw_pcie_host_init() on other
architectures, we will copy the internals of pci_common_init_dev() into
pcie-designware.c instead of calling it, and dw_pcie_host_init() will
supply the DesignWare pcie_port structure as "sysdata".
Most ARM "sysdata" users are specific to non-DesignWare host bridges;
they'll be unaffected because those bridges will continue to have the ARM
pci_sys_data. Most of the rest are ARM-generic functions called by
pci_common_init_dev(); these will be unaffected because dw_pcie_host_init()
will no longer call pci_common_init().
But the ARM pcibios_align_resource() can be called by the PCI core for any
bridge, so it can't depend on sysdata since it may be either pci_sys_data
or pcie_port.
Remove the pcibios_align_resource() dependency on sysdata by replacing the
pci_sys_data->align_resource pointer with a global function pointer.
This is less general (we can no longer have per-host bridge
align_resource() methods), but the pci_sys_data->align_resource pointer was
used only by Marvell (see mvebu_pcie_enable()), so this would only be a
problem if we had a system with a combination of Marvell and other host
bridges
