* alpha: select CONFIG_ARCH_USE_CMPXCHG_LOCKREF.Matt Turner2015-08-30
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | On Alpha we have spinlocks that are 32b in size and an efficient cmpxchg64 implementation, so we qualify to make use of cmpxchg backed lockrefs. Select the ARCH_USE_CMPXCHG_LOCKREF Kconfig symbol and provide a trivial implementation of arch_spin_value_unlocked to satisfy the lockref code. Using Linus' simple testcase from http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.file-systems/77466 on a dual CPU ES47 system I see around an 8% gain: N Min Max Median Avg Stddev x 30 6194580 6295654 6272504 6272514 17694.232 + 30 6731164 6786334 6767982 6764274 13738.863 Difference at 95.0% confidence 491760 +/- 8188.17 7.83992% +/- 0.130541% (Student's t, pooled s = 15840.5) Signed-off-by: Matt Turner <mattst88@gmail.com>
* alpha: locks: remove unused arch_*_relax operationsWill Deacon2013-07-19
| | | | | | | | | | | | The arch_{spin,read,write}_relax macros are not used anywhere in the kernel and are typically just aliases for cpu_relax(). This patch removes the unused definitions for Alpha. * locking: Convert raw_rwlock to arch_rwlockThomas Gleixner2009-12-14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Not strictly necessary for -rt as -rt does not have non sleeping rwlocks, but it's odd to not have a consistent naming convention. No functional change. * locking: Convert raw_spinlock to arch_spinlockThomas Gleixner2009-12-14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The raw_spin* namespace was taken by lockdep for the architecture specific implementations. raw_spin_* would be the ideal name space for the spinlocks which are not converted to sleeping locks in preempt-rt. Linus suggested to convert the raw_ to arch_ locks and cleanup the name space instead of using an artifical name like core_spin, atomic_spin or whatever No functional change. * Allow rwlocks to re-enable interruptsRobin Holt2009-04-02
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Pass the original flags to rwlock arch-code, so that it can re-enable interrupts if implemented for that architecture. Initially, make __raw_read_lock_flags and __raw_write_lock_flags stubs which just do the same thing as non-flags variants. * alpha: move include/asm-alpha to arch/alpha/include/asmLinus Torvalds2008-08-15
Sam Ravnborg did the build-test that the direct header file move works, I'm just committing it. This is a pure move: mkdir arch/alpha/include git mv include/asm-alpha arch/alpha/include/asm with no other changes.
