There are "off" and "user-based" mode. The default mode is "off". 1) whint_mode=off. F2FS only passes down WRITE_LIFE_NOT_SET. 2) whint_mode=user-based. F2FS tries to pass down hints given by users. Currently, only AES-256-XTS for file contents and AES-256-CBC-CTS for file names are implemented. This is a clear case of kernel offers the mechanism and userspace selects a policy. Similar to what dm-crypt and ecryptfs have. This patch adds support for using AES-128-CBC for file contents and AES-128-CBC-CTS for file name encryption. To mitigate watermarking attacks, IVs are generated using the ESSIV algorithm. While AES-CBC is actually slightly less secure than AES-XTS from a security point of view, there is more widespread hardware support. Using AES-CBC gives us the acceptable performance while still providing a moderate level of security for persistent storage. Especially low-powered embedded devices with crypto accelerators such as CAAM or CESA often only support AES-CBC. Since using AES-CBC over AES-XTS is basically thought of a last resort, we use AES-128-CBC over AES-256-CBC since it has less encryption rounds and yields noticeable better performance starting from a file size of just a few kB. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This commit exposes the necessary constants and structures for a userspace program to pass filesystem encryption keys into the keyring. The fscrypt_key structure was already part of the kernel ABI, this change just makes it so programs no longer have to redeclare these structures (like e4crypt in e2fsprogs currently does). Note that we do not expose the other FS_*_KEY_SIZE constants as they are not necessary. Only XTS is supported for contents_encryption_mode, so currently FS_MAX_KEY_SIZE bytes of key material must always be passed to the kernel. This commit also removes __packed from fscrypt_key as it does not contain any implicit padding and does not refer to an on-disk structure. Jonathan Looney reported that a malicious peer can force a sender to fragment its retransmit queue into tiny skbs, inflating memory usage and/or overflow 32bit counters. TCP allows an application to queue up to sk_sndbuf bytes, so we need to give some allowance for non malicious splitting of retransmit queue. A new SNMP counter is added to monitor how many times TCP did not allow to split an skb if the allowance was exceeded. Note that this counter might increase in the case applications use SO_SNDBUF socket option to lower sk_sndbuf. Starting from commit 9c225f2655e3 ("vfs: atomic f_pos accesses as per POSIX") files opened even via nonseekable_open gate read and write via lock and do not allow them to be run simultaneously. This can create read vs write deadlock if a filesystem is trying to implement a socket-like file which is intended to be simultaneously used for both read and write from filesystem client. See commit 10dce8af3422 ("fs: stream_open - opener for stream-like files so that read and write can run simultaneously without deadlock") for details and e.g. commit 581d21a2d02a ("xenbus: fix deadlock on writes to /proc/xen/xenbus") for a similar deadlock example on /proc/xen/xenbus. To avoid such deadlock it was tempting to adjust fuse_finish_open to use stream_open instead of nonseekable_open on just FOPEN_NONSEEKABLE flags, but grepping through Debian codesearch shows users of FOPEN_NONSEEKABLE, and in particular GVFS which actually uses offset in its read and write handlers https://codesearch.debian.net/search?q=-%3Enonseekable+%3D https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/blob/1.40.0-6-gcbc54396/client/gvfsfusedaemon.c#L1080 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/blob/1.40.0-6-gcbc54396/client/gvfsfusedaemon.c#L1247-1346 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/blob/1.40.0-6-gcbc54396/client/gvfsfusedaemon.c#L1399-1481 so if we would do such a change it will break a real user. Add another flag (FOPEN_STREAM) for filesystem servers to indicate that the opened handler is having stream-like semantics; does not use file position and thus the kernel is free to issue simultaneous read and write request on opened file handle. This patch together with stream_open() should be added to stable kernels starting from v3.14+. This will allow to patch OSSPD and other FUSE filesystems that provide stream-like files to return FOPEN_STREAM | FOPEN_NONSEEKABLE in open handler and this way avoid the deadlock on all kernel versions. This should work because fuse_finish_open ignores unknown open flags returned from a filesystem and so passing FOPEN_STREAM to a kernel that is not aware of this flag cannot hurt. In turn the kernel that is not aware of FOPEN_STREAM will be < v3.14 where just FOPEN_NONSEEKABLE is sufficient to implement streams without read vs write deadlock. This intends to support OWE (Opportunistic Wireless Encryption) AKM by the drivers that implement SME but rely on the user space for the cryptographic/OWE processing in AP mode. Such drivers are not capable of processing/deriving the DH IE. A new NL80211 command - NL80211_CMD_UPDATE_OWE_INFO is introduced to send the request/event between the host driver and user space. Driver shall provide the OWE info (MAC address and DH IE) of the peer to user space for cryptographic processing of the DH IE through the event. Accordingly, the user space shall update the OWE info/DH IE to the driver. Following is the sequence in AP mode for OWE authentication. Driver passes the OWE info obtained from the peer in the Association Request to the user space through the event cfg80211_update_owe_info_event. User space shall process the OWE info received and generate new OWE info. This OWE info is passed to the driver through NL80211_CMD_UPDATE_OWE_INFO request. Driver eventually uses this OWE info to send the Association Response to the peer. This OWE info in the command interface carries the IEs that include PMKID of the peer if the PMKSA is still valid or an updated DH IE for generating a new PMKSA with the peer. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This interface allows the host driver to offload OWE processing to user space. This intends to support OWE/Enhanced Open AKM by the host drivers that implement SME but rely on the user space for the crypotographic/OWE processing.Such drivers are not capable of processing/deriving the DH IE's. This interface acts as both the event from the driver to userspace and a command from userspace to the driver. Host driver shall use the event to notify the OWE info of the peer to the userspace for the cryptographic processing of the DH ie's. Accordingly, the userspace shall update the OWE info/DH ie's to the host driver corresponding to the peer. Above sequence aims for the AP mode where the event carries the OWE info of the peer(STA) obtained in the Assoc Request. The request interface from the userspace shall update the OWE info to the host driver, which is used to send the Assoc response to the peer. This OWE info in the command interface shall contain the ie's which either include the pmkid of the peer if the PMKSA is still valid or an updated DH ie's for generating a new PMKSA with the peer. This interface can be used to implement SAE by having the userspace do authentication/PMKID key derivation and driver handle the association. A step ahead, this interface can get further optimized if the PMKID is passed to the host driver and also have it respond to the association request by the STA on a valid PMKID. This commit enables the userspace to pass the PMKID to the host drivers through the set/del pmksa operations in AP mode. Set/Del pmksa is now restricted to STA/P2P client mode only and thus the drivers might not expect them in any other(AP) mode. This commit also introduces a feature flag NL80211_EXT_FEATURE_AP_PMKSA_CACHING (johannes: renamed) to maintain the backward compatibility of such an expectation by the host drivers. These operations are allowed in AP mode only when the drivers advertize the capability through this flag. This fixes a compile problem of some user space applications by not including linux/libc-compat.h in uapi/if_ether.h. linux/libc-compat.h checks which "features" the header files, included from the libc, provide to make the Linux kernel uapi header files only provide no conflicting structures and enums. If a user application mixes kernel headers and libc headers it could happen that linux/libc-compat.h gets included too early where not all other libc headers are included yet. Then the linux/libc-compat.h would not prevent all the redefinitions and we run into compile problems. This patch removes the include of linux/libc-compat.h from uapi/if_ether.h to fix the recently introduced case, but not all as this is more or less impossible. It is no problem to do the check directly in the if_ether.h file and not in libc-compat.h as this does not need any fancy glibc header detection as glibc never provided struct ethhdr and should define __UAPI_DEF_ETHHDR by them self when they will provide this. The following test program did not compile correctly any more: #include <linux/if_ether.h> #include <netinet/in.h> #include <linux/in.h> int main(void) { return 0; } Fixes: 6926e041a892 ("uapi/if_ether.h: prevent redefinition of struct ethhdr") Reported-by: Guillaume Nault <g.nault@alphalink.fr> Cc: <stable@vger.kernel.org> # 4.15 Signed-off-by: Hauke Mehrtens <hauke@hauke-m.de> Signed-off-by: David S. Musl provides its own ethhdr struct definition. Add a guard to prevent its definition of the appropriate musl header has already been included. glibc does not implement this header, but when glibc will implement this they can just define __UAPI_DEF_ETHHDR 0 to make it work with the kernel. This commit extends the same for the AP mode too. Extend NL80211_ATTR_EXTERNAL_AUTH_SUPPORT to also claim the support of external authentication from the user space in AP mode. A new flag parameter is introduced in cfg80211_ap_settings to intend the same while "start ap". Host driver to use NL80211_CMD_FRAME interface to transmit and receive the authentication frames to / from the user space. Host driver to indicate the flag NL80211_RXMGMT_FLAG_EXTERNAL_AUTH while sending the authentication frame to the user space. This intends to the user space that the driver wishes it to process the authentication frame for certain protocols, though it had initially advertised the support for SME functionality. User space shall accordingly do the authentication and indicate its final status through the command NL80211_CMD_EXTERNAL_AUTH. Allow the command even if userspace doesn't include the attribute NL80211_ATTR_SSID for AP interface. Host driver shall continue with the association sequence and indicate the STA connection status through cfg80211_new_sta. To facilitate the host drivers in AP mode for matching the pmkid by the stations during the association, NL80211_CMD_EXTERNAL_AUTH is also enhanced to include the pmkid to drivers after the authentication. This pmkid can also be used in the STA mode to include in the association request. Also modify nl80211_external_auth to not mandate SSID in AP mode. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The interaction between virtio and IOMMUs is messy. On most systems with virtio, physical addresses match bus addresses, and it doesn't particularly matter which one we use to program the device. On some systems, including Xen and any system with a physical device that speaks virtio behind a physical IOMMU, we must program the IOMMU for virtio DMA to work at all. On other systems, including SPARC and PPC64, virtio-pci devices are enumerated as though they are behind an IOMMU, but the virtio host ignores the IOMMU, so we must either pretend that the IOMMU isn't there or somehow map everything as the identity. Add a feature bit to detect that quirk: VIRTIO_F_IOMMU_PLATFORM. Any device with this feature bit set to 0 needs a quirk and has to be passed physical addresses (as opposed to bus addresses) even though the device is behind an IOMMU. Note: it has to be a per-device quirk because for example, there could be a mix of passed-through and virtual virtio devices. As another example, some devices could be implemented by an out of process hypervisor backend (in case of qemu vhost, or vhost-user) and so support for an IOMMU needs to be coded up separately. It would be cleanest to handle this in IOMMU core code, but that needs per-device DMA ops. While we are waiting for that to be implemented, use a work-around in virtio core. Note: a "noiommu" feature is a quirk - add a wrapper to make that clear. Signed-off-by: Michael S. This could be used with userspace(qemu) implementation of DMA remapping to emulate an IOMMU for the guest. The idea is simple, cache the translation in a software device IOTLB (which is implemented as an interval tree) in vhost and use vhost_net file descriptor for reporting IOTLB miss and IOTLB update/invalidation. When vhost meets an IOTLB miss, the fault address, size and access can be read from the file. After userspace finishes the translation, it writes the translated address to the vhost_net file to update the device IOTLB. When device IOTLB is enabled by setting VIRTIO_F_IOMMU_PLATFORM all vq addresses set by ioctl are treated as iova instead of virtual address and the accessing can only be done through IOTLB instead of direct userspace memory access. Before each round or vq processing, all vq metadata is prefetched in device IOTLB to make sure no translation fault happens during vq processing. In most cases, virtqueues are contiguous even in virtual address space. The IOTLB translation for virtqueue itself may make it a little slower. We might add fast path cache on top of this patch.
