| * | | | | | OMAPDSS: rename omap_dss_device's 'device' field to 'dst'Tomi Valkeinen2013-08-30
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In the old panel device model we had omap_dss_output entities, representing the encoders in the DSS block. This entity had "device" field, which pointed to the panel that was using the omap_dss_output. With the new panel device model, the omap_dss_output is integrated into omap_dss_device, which now represents a "display entity". Thus the "device" field, now in omap_dss_device, points to the next entity in the display entity-chain. This patch renames the "device" field to "dst", which much better tells what the field points to. Signed-off-by: Tomi Valkeinen <tomi.valkeinen@ti.com> Reviewed-by: Archit Taneja <archit@ti.com>

The panel devices had a reference to the source of the video data, i.e. reference to an "output", in a field named "output". That was somewhat confusing even in the old panel device model, but even more so with the panel device model where we can have longer chains of display entities. This patch renames the "output" field to "src", which much better tells what the field points to. Signed-off-by: Tomi Valkeinen <tomi.valkeinen@ti.com> Reviewed-by: Archit Taneja <archit@ti.com>

Unfortunately, fbcon_fb_unbind() cannot unbind from the last framebuffer, unless console-unbinding is supported. Fixing fbcon_unbind() to return 0 caused some horrible NULL-derefs in the VT layer and I couldn't figure out why. Hence, lets just require console-unbinding so fbdev hotplugging works with fbcon. Furthermore, we now allocate apertures for the fbinfo device. Both information is used by remove_conflicting_framebuffers() to remove a fbdev device whenever a real driver is loaded. This is used heavily on x86 for VGA/vesa/EFI framebuffers, but is also of great use for all other systems. Especially with x86 support for simplefb, this information is needed to unload simplefb before a real hw-driver (like i915, radeon, nouveau) is loaded. However, there is normally no OF support so we introduce a platform_data object so x86 boot-code can pass the parameters via plain old platform-data. This also removes the OF dependency as it is not needed. The headers provide proper dummies for the case OF is disabled. Furthermore, we move the FORMAT-definitions to the common platform header so initialization code can use it to transform "struct screen_info" to the right format-name. This patch also removes the setting of flag CTRL_DF24 that makes the driver dimiss the upper 2 bits when handling 32/24bpp colors in a diplay with 18bit data bus width. This flag made true color images display wrong in such configurations. Finally, the color mapping rgb666 has also been removed as nobody is using it and high level applications like Qt5 cannot work with it either. Instead of adding dependency to VENC, add internal default timings to the connector driver, because the connector driver should not depend on VENC, and it can be used with any other analog TV encoder. Initially it was supposed to show the "Linux Integration Services" version, now it is not in sync anymore with the out-of-tree drivers available from the MSFT website. The only place where a version string is still required is the KVP command "IntegrationServicesVersion" which is handled by tools/hv/hv_kvp_daemon.c. To satisfy such KVP request from the host pass the current string to the daemon during KVP userland registration. Signed-off-by: Olaf Hering <olaf@aepfle.de> Acked-by: K. Y. |/ / | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The device-tree enablement for max8925 has several problems, but besides the bindings being wrong (and not having seen review) there's also some bad coding practices on how to fill in the platform_data from device tree. I came across this since it causes a warning when compiling mmp2_defconfig, and instead of doing the minimal fix to silence the warning, I restructured the code a bit. This silences the warning: drivers/video/backlight/max8925_bl.c: In function 'max8925_backlight_probe': drivers/video/backlight/max8925_bl.c:177:3: warning: statement with no effect [-Wunused-value] Note that the bindings themselves need to be revisited too, but that will affect more than just the backlight driver and is best done separately; this just fixes the bad code for the backlight driver.
